Goodbye Summer

I can't believe it's September already. Summer flew by and I have no idea where it went. While I am a fan of fall and the holiday season, I am not really ready to embrace the passing of the beautiful sunny days or all of the outdoor time with the family. So, as a last ditch effort to drag summer out just a bit longer, I will update the blog with some of the things we have been up to over the last couple of months.

Both of my boys are highly obsessed with Thursday, which at our house is known as "garbage" day. They can't wait to see the drivers pull up and empty both our brown and blue garbage cans. The man who comes to pick up the blue garbage can has been particularly cute with the kids. He always waves when he pulls up and then he waves again as he takes off. So, we decided to make him some cookies. Miles was really excited to get to go out to the garbage truck and deliver the goodies.

We also went to the South Towne Expo center to tour the float displays for the Days of '47 parade. My mother-in-law was in charge of one of the floats and it turned out beautifully. All of the quilts used on the float were donated to the Humanitarian center.

We did lots of our usual things as well, like the Aquarium and the Zoo. The boys and I also went on a couple of picnics and we all enjoyed Scott's talents at the grill.

Miles continued his karate and recently earned his lion patch. He also continued on with preschool sports and participated in basketball and football.

I took Miles and Tate downtown via TRAX to meet their Grandma and Grandpa Johnson to tour all of the new construction sites. The boys love construction vehicles and they enjoyed the time with their grandparents.

One of our favorite new things is to go to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. We went a couple of times recently and we all had such a great time that we now have an annual pass.

Goodbye summer. You will be missed!
