Sun Valley

We just returned from our annual trip to Sun Valley, Idaho. We had such a fun time and enjoyed getting away for the weekend.

This year we stayed up at the Sun Valley Lodge. Our room overlooked the ice arena, and as a result we got to see their amazing ice show from the comfort of our hotel room. Both boys loved dancing to the music and Miles particularly enjoyed seeing the colorful lights. Scott and I thought the skaters were incredible.

Miles and Tate had a blast simply "entertaining" themselves in the hotel room. Parents of little boys know that if there is anything to be jumped from or climbed upon, boys will either find it or create it. Even at 9 months, Tate loved to participate.

Getting ready to jump.

Nice dismount.

Excellent form.

Solid landing . . . . I'd give it a 10!

Loving the view!

Who is that handsome baby?

The hotel had 3 different pools on the compound, but our favorite was the one that they kept at over 90 degrees. Miles wanted to swim everyday and made a couple of swimming pool buddies. Tate loved floating around and flashing his dimples at all of the girls.

We loved to take long walks through the town of Ketchum. It was really beautiful, with amazing shops and friendly people. There was also this lovely pasture with some seriously spoiled horses. These horses led a charmed life. They lounged around while locals and tourists wandered by to pet them and feed them carrots. We only added to their gluttony.

Scott's favorite thing to do in the Sun Valley area is to bike. There are so many trails, but our favorite is the one down by the river that runs from Ketchum to nearby Hailey. Tate was a little unsure about the biking expedition, but Miles was a sport and had a fun time.

Miles loved the bike helmet so much that he
wore it in the car on the way to Idaho. He is
all about safety.

Is Scott the future Lance Armstrong?

Tate preferred being on solid ground.

This man leaping from the bridge is not Scott,
although he wishes that it was. Fearing that
he would be diving to certain injury, I talked
him out of it, and he and Miles threw rocks in
the water instead.

Just before leaving town, we stopped by our favorite little sandwich shop, "Perry's". Scott posed for this action photo, so that we could rub it in the faces of a couple of our friends who love to eat here and had not been in a few years. We are such kind friends.

Until next year . . . .

We're Officially Bloggers!

After several requests, we have decided to officially join the blogging world. This way, no one ever has to wonder how exciting our lives really are - there will finally be concrete evidence. The potty training, the addition of solid foods to the baby's diet, and the many hours spent watching Playhouse Disney will no longer be a mystery.

We are well into summer and have been keeping busy. Scott spent much of June traveling, mostly for work. He was in Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York and New Orleans. In addition, he went to San Diego for Father's Day with his dad and two brothers to see the U.S. Open. Yes, he did get extremely close to Tiger Woods; close enough to determine that Tiger is in fact, not human. I think it inspired him to get out and golf a little more. While he was gone, my parents came out for a visit. They claim that they wanted to see me, but we all know it was to get some hugs from their grandsons. We had a great time, in spite of my Dad's bad cold. Somehow my mom and I managed to fit in some shopping, and as always, spent more than we should. Of course, as I always tell Scott, it's okay because everything was on sale. The boys loved wrestling with their Grandpa Ray and getting a little spoiled. It was a lot of fun and we wish we could see them more often.

As a result of all of Scott's traveling, we spent the week of the 4th of July catching up on some quality family time. We hit the pool, the aquarium, the zoo, and a number of yummy barbeques with friends and family. We have been enjoying every minute of summer.

Miles is becoming quite the young man, and is a wonderful big brother. The other day, he looked down at his brother and said, "I like you Tatie. You are a very special baby." They are really cute together and make each other laugh. Miles just got a train table, and spends every possible minute wrapped up in Thomas and his friends (although Gordon is his favorite). He is learning to ride bikes and scooters and still gets lost in his books. As always, he is a big fan of all things garbage - garbage cans, garbage trucks, and the entire process from beginning to end. I really enjoy talking with him. He is so bright and funny.

Tate is growing up so fast and we can't keep up with him. He is crawling everywhere, including up the stairs, and is itching to run wild with his big brother. Tate is eating anything and everything he can get his hands on, and making a lovely mess in the process. He is also learning how to dance (really more bopping up and down, but cute nonetheless) and has got quite the moves - like father, like son. Tate is a lot of fun, and full of personality. I have a feeling his big smile and deep dimples will get him out of a lot of trouble.

I hope this catches everyone up on all of the latest happenings in our wild and crazy lives. We will post again soon. Hope all is well with each of you.
