California Boys

We returned two weeks ago from our lovely family vacation to San Diego, and yet sadly, I am just getting around to blogging about it. Oh well, better late than never.

On our drive down to California, we stayed a night with some of our good friends who live in St. George. It was really fun to get to visit with them and catch up on all the latest excitement. Their home was truly gorgeous and the boys had a blast swimming in their amazing pool, playing on their waterslide and hanging with their friend Zane.

In San Diego, the boys managed to swim again. In fact, in the 10 days that we were on vacation, they swam in 5 different pools.

Our first major event was a trip to the San Diego Zoo. The boys had such a great time. We started with the bus tour and then covered the entire zoo by foot. Many hours and hundreds of animals later, we staggered out to our car. I did not include the picture of the mating giant turtles (of course I took a picture - do not judge me), but trust me when I tell you it was hysterical.

Grandma Kaye and Grandpa Jon joined us for some fun at Disneyland. Lovely to have their help and their company. We always have a great time with them in California - throw in a little Mickey Mouse and what is not to love?!

Back down in San Diego, Scott and I got to sneak out one night for dinner to celebrate our 9-year wedding anniversary. We had a nice time and enjoyed a fun evening. Oh, and no, we did not sit on the same side of the table at dinner - that's a pet peeve of mine when couples sit next to each other leaving the other side of the table vacant. We did it purely for the sake of the photo.:)

We spent a bit of time at Jon and Kaye's hotel enjoying the incredible views, and of course, swimming. On our way out we ran into a marine who had just come from his boot camp graduation. The boys thought he was a big time celebrity. Miles kept saying "A real marine!, A real marine!" He was a really cool guy and was super cute with my boys. There truly is something about a man in uniform.:)

Of course no California vacation is complete without a trip to the beach, and this one was no exception. The boys attempted boogie boarding and Scott swam with dolphins - a perfect afternoon at the beach!

Until next year!!!
